In 2006, Johnny Damon launched the Johnny Damon Foundation (JDF), a 501(c)(3) organization to support, among other charitable causes, the Wounded Warriors Project (WWP) and several children’s hospitals. Johnny is the national spokesman for the WWP, whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors.

The WWP aids in the recovery process and assists American heroes as they transition back to civilian life by providing services that include counseling, rehabilitation, adaptive sports opportunities, and advocacy initiatives. The support of Johnny and the JDF has generated much-needed national exposure of the WWP, highlighting the importance of supporting our wounded troops.

In addition to his work with the WWP, Johnny also supports various children’s initiatives such as the Ronald McDonald House Charities and is the Yankees Home Run Captain for the Children’s Health Fund (CHF), which brings quality care directly to the nation’s most medically disadvantaged children in rural and urban areas. As the Yankees Home Run Captain, Johnny donates funding for each home run the Yankees hit collectively as a team in both the regular and post-season.

“For the freedom we have, we all shouldpay more attention
to people who go out there and fight for it.”
